CHICAGO--Targeting suspicious areas of the breast with ultrasound can reduce the need for biopsies in young women, according to the findings of two studies presented Wednesday at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).
CHICAGO—A new method of characterizing breast lesions found during an MRI exam could result in fewer biopsies of benign tumors with the benefits of reduced pain and expense for patients and providers, according to a study presented today at the 94th annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America.

Non-invasive imaging can measure how well patients with the most common form of breast cancer--estrogen receptor positive type--respond to standard aromatase inhibitor therapy after only two weeks and shows similar findings that more invasive needle sampling identifies, according to a study to be presented at the 2009 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) meeting in Orlando, Fla., May 29 - June 2.
