A new tracer allows visualization of abnormal protein deposits—called amyloid plaques—in human diseases like Alzheimer’s and Creutzfeldt-Jakob and in prion diseases in animals like scrapie (similar to mad cow disease), according to researchers at the University of Pennsylvania and CHRU Tours in France.

Siemens rolls out new PET/CT system, highlights disease-specific imaging
Siemens this week added the new TruePoint technology to its Biograph family of hybrid PET/CT systems. The TruePoint PET/CT platform adds 33 percent more axial volume coverage to Siemens PET/CT scanners as well as cutting in half the patient injected dose of radiopharmaceuticals.
