SNM debuts Molecular Imaging Gateway

SNM this week introduced its Molecular Imaging Gateway, an exhibit area devoted to evolving technologies and applications in molecular imaging, at its annual meeting in Washington, D.C.

“SNM recognizes the expanding role of molecular imaging in 21st century patient care and wants to ensure that the medical community is well prepared to adopt these new advances,” said SNM President Martin P. Sandler.

 The Molecular Imaging Gateway is giving attendees a chance to learn about different imaging modalities in addition to traditional nuclear medicine. The inaugural Molecular Imaging Gateway aims to demonstrate how technological breakthroughs in molecular imaging can be brought into the clinical environment for broader application in medicine.
Highlighted information included in the Gateway:  
  • PET, SPECT, CT, MRI, MRS, optical, ultrasound and hybrid imaging;
  • existing and emerging molecular imaging agents, probes and therapies;
  • biological and technological innovations in molecular imaging;
  • applications of and relevance of molecular imaging to different diseases;
  • applications of molecular imaging to basic research, translational research, clinical use, and drug development;
  • funding, grant, and award opportunities in molecular imaging; and
  • training and educational opportunities in molecular imaging.
