Co-founder of athenahealth named HHS CTO
Todd Park, co-founder of athenahealth and a current member of the board of directors of the Watertown, Mass.-based company, has been named chief technology officer (CTO) for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

According to athenahealth, Park will resign his position on the board of directors effective Aug. 10. He will also divest his stock in the company and refrain from decisions that may affect athenahealth.

He is expected to assume the CTO position later this month and will report to HHS Deputy Secretary William Corr, according to athenahealth.

“My entire professional career has focused on developing technologies and services that can help our healthcare system work the way it should,” Park said. “I am extremely excited about the opportunity to help the [Obama] Administration explore and catalyze new ways to improve the health status of the United States through the power of data, technology and innovation.”
