GE launches new eHealth business unit
As part of its healthymagination enterprise, GE Healthcare has introduced eHealth, a new business unit that is said to connect care providers and patients, and allow for health information sharing across multiple institutions.

“Connecting healthcare systems is challenging,” said Brandon Savage, MD, chief medical officer of GE Healthcare IT. “Wide variations in clinical terminology, patient identification methods and systems architecture makes integrating health information exceptionally difficult.”

The goal of eHealth will be for clinicians to share health information of a patient in order to reduce error and improve health outcomes, as well as encourage patients to take an active role in their healthcare. The unit has been designed with security features, including data privacy and patient identification.
