Health IT Venture Fair links vendors, investors
ORLANDO – HIMSS, with the support of the law firm Blank Rome, is presenting the second annual Health IT Venture Fair.

The fair is offered exclusively to qualifying HIMSS exhibitors, and it is expected to connect nearly 30 health IT vendors with more than 100 investors from venture capital firms, private equity firms, investment bankers, Wall Street analysts and other financial industry people.

The topics to be presented include:
  • Current Health IT Environment, HIT Market Trend Data; and
  • Overview of State & Capitol Hill Impact on HIT-related Legislation.
“As the health IT market continues to grow, investors are paying attention to emerging companies as part of their investment strategy,” said Blank Rome’s Howard Burde, referring to a trend he has noticed among his clients as well as within the health IT industry. Burde spearheaded the inception of the Venture Fair, which was held at HIMSS for the first time last year.

“Investors are seeing the benefits of allocating funds in the health IT industry, making the Health IT Venture Fair strategic for both emerging health IT companies and investors alike,” Burde added.

A report published in September 2006 by market analyst firm BCC Research forecasts that the health IT market will experience annual double-digit increases. By 2011, the health IT industry is expected to reach $34.7 billion in sales, almost twice the size it was in 2005.

The Health IT Venture Fair is taking place at the Orange County Convention Center, West Building.
