Practice Fusion, a provider of Web-based physician practice applications, has received an investment from salesforce.com, an enterprise cloud computing company.

The investment will assist Practice Fusion in the expected launch of its patient health record (PHR) application on the San Francisco-based Force.com, salesforce.com's cloud computing development platform later this year. The companies did not disclose the investment details.

Force.com provides services for companies to build and deliver business applications in the cloud, including the database, real-time customization, analytics, real-time workflow and approvals, programmable cloud logic, integration, real-time mobile deployment, programmable user interface and Web site capabilities. Practice Fusion, also headquartered in San Francisco, currently offers an application and delivery model--cloud computing--providing free, Web-based EMRs, practice management and patient scheduling.
