Aramark awards 2011 healthcare admin fellows
From a pool of more than 140 applicants, Aramark Healthcare, in conjunction with the Institute for Diversity in Health Management, has selected three fellows for the Healthcare Administrative Fellowship for Clinical Support Services.
Th company said that this year’s awardees include:
“The goal of our fellowship program is to support the growth of tomorrow’s healthcare leaders and to offer our partner hospitals an opportunity to work with some of today’s brightest talent,” said Aramark's Healthcare President and COO John Babiarz.
The year-long, post-graduate fellowship focuses on the connection between the delivery of care and the environment where it is delivered, according to the Aramark. Fellows were chosen based on their academic excellence, leadership qualities and commitment to community service, according to the healthcare provider. Winick’s post in Vancouver represents the first international component of the program, the company noted.
The Healthcare Administrative Fellowship was created by Aramark in 2008. In collaboration with the Institute for Diversity in Health Management, the fellowship offers experience in hospital administration and exposure to Aramark’s perspective on clinical support services.
Th company said that this year’s awardees include:
- Christina Holch, Master of Health Administration, Texas A&M Health Science Center. Holch, of League City, Texas, will be placed at Capital Health in Trenton, N.J., where she will support the opening of Capital’s new hospital in Hopewell, N.J. She previously served as an intern at Val Verde Regional Medical Center in Texas.
- Edna Villareal, Master of Public Health, Texas A&M Health and Science Center. Villareal, of La Blanca, Texas, will be placed at Susquehanna Health in Williamsport, Pa., and will support the hospital’s “Project 2012 Goals,” including opening a new patient tower. Villareal previously worked at McAllen Medical Hospital in Texas and completed an internship at South Texas Health System.
- Deborah Winick, Master of Health Science-Health Administration, University of Toronto. Winick, of Toronto, will be placed at Vancouver Costal Health in British Columbia, and will focus on helping the health system integrate services to ensure maximum value. She previously served as an Administrative Resident at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and as an analyst at the Ontario Renal Network, also in Toronto.
