Naviscan has reported that its Positron Emission Mammography (PEM) scanner will be utilized in pre-clinical and translational research for the development of radiotracers by Richard Wahl, MD, professor of radiology and nuclear medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore.

Wahl patented the technology which enabled Naviscan to develop the first FDA-cleared PET-guided biopsy accessory, known as Stereo Navigator, said Naviscan, headquartered in San Diego.

Other academic medical centers utilizing Naviscan's PEM technology include the University of Cincinnati, Baylor University, M.D. Anderson, the University of Chicago and the Boston University Medical Center, according to the company.
