VU University Medical Center (VUMC) in Amsterdam, and Philips Healthcare have opened a PET/MR imaging center in the Netherlands.

Researchers at VUMC will use Philips’ Ingenuity TF PET/MR scanner to investigate new methods of diagnosing and treating cancer and neurological disorders, as well as search for more efficient and cost-effective ways of developing new drugs.

Philips and VUMC have been collaborating since 2010, with the ultimate goal of creating the VUMC Imaging Center Amsterdam, a facility that by 2016 will house PET/MR, PET/CT, SPECT, ultrasound and optical imaging.
