RSNA: GE touts PET/CT + MR and DR
GE Healthcare spotlighted DR advances and works-in-progress in hybrid imaging and breast imaging at the 96th annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in Chicago.

University Hospital in Zurich installed PET/CT + MRI to help clinicians capture multi-modality images and correlate information from PET, CT and MRI technologies, Waukesha, Wis.-based GE shared at RSNA. The system consists of two scanning devices, a mobile patient system and the image registration application running on the company’s Advantage Workstation, allowing a patient to be moved from one device (PET/CT) to the other device (MR) without changing positions on the table

FlashPad, a wireless, digital x-ray detector, which is compatible with a variety of GE x-ray products, has received 510k clearance, GE said. The two-handle detector can be used in all routine radiography exams and specialized areas including pediatric work, intensive care and trauma, according to GE. FlashPad supports applications such as VolumeRAD digital tomosynthesis and dual energy subtraction.

Finally, the company highlighted its SenoBright Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography (CESM) technology, which is FDA 510(k) pending. The system is designed to allow a physician to image blood flow through angiography of the breast using a contrast agent and a dual energy acquisition technique. In addition to typical mammography images that show breast tissue density, CESM technology is designed to provide doctors with images of contrast uptake, which may indicate angiogenesis, GE explained. SenoBright uses x-rays at multiple energies to create two separate exposures. The resulting images specifically illuminate and highlight areas where there is contrast uptake and potentially angiogenesis.
