Velocity releases molecular imaging software at AAPM
Velocity Medical Solutions unveiled its molecular imaging software at the 2008 meeting of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) in Houston this week.

Incorporating techniques for image fusion, Velocity Advanced Imaging (VelocityAI) enables registration of multiple imaging modalities including CT, MR, SPECT and PET. VelocityAI has plan creation using pre-defined atlases, and deformation methods support adaptive planning and complex re-treatment cases, according to the Atlanta-based Velocity.

For patient follow up, the company said that VelocityAI, which recently received the FDA’s 510(k) clearance, allows volume analysis of biologic uptake of FDG-PET imaging, so that a more quantitative assessment of a patient’s progress can be made over time.
