More than 60 percent of providers responding to an American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) survey indicated support for the recent Supreme Court ruling to uphold the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The ACPE, in an unscientific poll conducted via email, sought the opinions of 9,500 of its members. Of the 617 who responded, 61.1 percent supported the ruling, 33.4 percent opposed the ruling and 5.5 percent were unsure about the ruling.

The ACPE also invited its members to virtually share opinions on the Supreme Court’s decision. An ongoing discussion among ACPE members and survey results are being hosted on the ACPE website.

“Regardless of any one individual's opinion, the Supreme Court's decision was an important moment in healthcare,” ACPE CEO Peter Angood, MD, said in a July 5 statement.
