AHRA, Toshiba announce Putting Patients First grants
The AHRA (Association for Medical Imaging Management) and Toshiba have awarded grants to six U.S. healthcare facilities for education and patient care initiatives, with each receiving up to $7,500.

Under the Putting Patients First grants, the AHRA selection committee chose six recipients based on projects to improve patient care and safety in diagnostic imaging, with Toshiba providing the funding. Three of 2010's six grants were awarded for projects that improve the safety and comfort of pediatric imaging, with the other three grants aimed at overall patient care and safety in imaging.

The six facilities selected include:

• Northwest Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga.
• Children's Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
• St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, N.J.
• Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colo.
• Sublette County Rural Health Care District: Pinedale & Marbleton Medical Clinics in Pinedale, Wyo.
• Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue, Wash.

Each facility will publish an article in an AHRA publication describing the project and create best practice tools to enable other institutions to adopt the program.
