TomoTherapy adds to radiation therapy suite
TomoTherapy has expanded its suite of radiation therapy solutions with the addition of the TomoHD treatment system.
The TomoHD treatment system combines TomoHelical and TomoDirect delivery modes, according to the Madison, Wis.-based company. The firm said the TomoHelical technique enables delivery for treatment quality and targeting of complex volumes. The TomoDirect modality offers a discrete-angle delivery option, with 3D-conformal radiation therapy capabilities.
In both delivery modes, clinicians follow a process for planning, imaging and treating targets of up to 160 cm in length, TomoTherapy said. The TomoHD treatment system comes with 1-, 2.5- and 5-cm primary collimator settings.
The TomoHD treatment system will be officially introduced during the 2009 American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) meeting next month in Chicago.
