FDA and Health Canada approve use of Mo-99 from Polish reactor
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Health Canada have approved the use of the Maria Research Reactor in Poland as a site to irradiate highly-enriched uranium targets for molybdenum-99 (Mo-99) production, according to Covidien.
JACR: Rad practices must focus on service, relationships to retain contracts
Less than 15 years ago, a radiology group’s professional service agreement with a hospital was, according to Lawrence Muroff, MD, equivalent to “a relatively hassle-free tenure.” But Muroff, writing in the March issue of the Journal of the American College of Radiology (JACR), says that things have changed. Radiology practices now have PSAs that are “more restrictive, more controlling and more demanding. . .”

Radiology: CT angiography proves cost-effective in chest pain diagnosis strategy
A coronary CT angiography-only approach -- when factoring in a $20,000 threshold level for cost per correct diagnosis and $50,000 per quality-adjusted life-year -- is the most cost-effective diagnostic strategy for the evaluation of patients presenting with stable chest pain without known coronary artery disease (CAD) with intermediate CAD prevalence, according to a decision analysis study published in the March issue of Radiology.
