eRAD PACS and mammography module deployed at Diagnostic Imaging of Salem

GREENVILLE, S.C., Nov. 3, 2014 - Diagnostic Imaging of Salem (DIOS), a multi-modality outpatient imaging and women's center in Salem, Ore., deployed eRAD PACS and Mammography Module to achieve cost savings and productivity gains.

eRAD, a subsidiary of RadNet, Inc. (Nasdaq:RDNT), a leading provider of standards-based, web-centric radiology image and data management solutions, delivered the solution to help DIOS meet its business goals.

A key part of the solution was a flexible pricing model. "We wanted something we could buy outright, without having the complications of a per-click system and study volume commitments," Brian Williams, Information Systems Director at DIOS, said. eRAD provides an array of pricing models to fit the unique needs of its customers.

DIOS streamlined its workflow by switching to eRAD. "The ability to customize to improve workflow was another important factor for us,"
said Williams. "One of our major gains was the ability to assign a radiologist to a case. Previously, we had a manual process--scanning a piece of paper to mark the study for a certain radiologist, then sending a text message to alert that radiologist. 'Here's the accession number; here's the MRN.' Of course, you have human error in that set-up. People forget, plus you use a lot of the tech's time. Now all we do is assign to a worklist, and all the notification is taken care of. The right radiologist sees the study in his queue."

With HL7 interfaces, DIOS achieves the same productivity when communicating with its customers, since eRAD can be set to "push"
images to disparate PACS for viewing. "It was hard to track manually--which doctor at a clinic needed to see which case," said Williams. "Now we just set up a worklist, and anything that hits that worklist can be forwarded to the specified destination. We set it up just to be handled by the system."

DIOS has one of the most technologically advanced women's imaging centers in the Willamette Valley, and eRAD's Mammography Module allows radiologists to read studies without having to switch to a different viewing workstation. Multiple modalities-- CT, ultrasound, MRI, mammography, tomosynthesis--can be read and reported on from the same system, with related priors pre-fetched.

Seth Koeppel, Senior VP of Sales at eRAD, said, "We are excited to expand our installed base with Diagnostic Imaging of Salem. They appreciate the ability to have a full diagnostic Mammo Viewer with all the tools a radiologist requires as part and parcel of a robust viewing solution."
