Washington, D.C. – The Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) today announced that Andy Dhokai has joined the organization’s Government Relations department. The addition of Dhokai will help to strengthen the trade association’s expertise in health policy and legislative advocacy.
“As the voice of the medical imaging and radiation therapy industry, MITA is committed to educating policymakers and regulators about the role of medical imaging in improving health outcomes and reducing costs,” said Gail Rodriguez, executive director of MITA. “Dhokai’s extensive political and policy experience positions him well to represent the interests of our members in Washington, D.C. and beyond.”
In his role, Dhokai will support MITA’s efforts to engage and educate lawmakers and staff on Capitol Hill about the value of innovative medical imaging and radiation therapy technologies that promote effective disease diagnosis, staging and treatment.
“I am excited to represent an industry that is transforming healthcare through rapid, groundbreaking innovation, and look forward to working with my colleagues at MITA, our partners throughout the imaging community, and most importantly patient advocates to make our case for public policies that enhance patient safety and safeguard patient access to these life-saving technologies,” said Dhokai.
Prior to joining MITA, Dhokai served as Director of Government Relations for the North American Spine Society/National Association of Spine Specialists. Dhokai has a wealth of experience in public policy, from Friends of the United Nations World Food Program, where he successfully spearheaded the campaign to expand the George McGovern-Robert Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program, to serving as a staffer for Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), to consulting for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and engaging in policy work at NASA.
Dhokai holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from James Madison University and is currently finishing a Master's Degree in Public Policy at Northwestern University.
