SALT LAKE CITY—Novarad, a Utah-based healthcare technology company, will exhibit its latest advancements in universal viewing technology at the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) conference and exhibition. This includes the ability to track and monitor the access and usage of not only DICOM, but clinical, non-DICOM multimedia.

“Non-DICOM multimedia is being left on thumb drives and CDs with no method of disaster recovery, no way to keep track of it, and no way to keep it secure,” Paul Shumway, Vice President of the Novarad Corporation said. “HIPAA requires the ability to produce an audit trail. It requires a method of disaster recovery. We want to make that easy for providers. We don’t want that to be what keeps them awake at night.”

The MARZ Patient-Centric Universal Viewer helps providers comply with physical, technical, and administrative requirements by providing secure data storage both on- and off-site, a secondary backup of all patient data, an easily accessible audit trail for clinical multimedia, and system-wide data encryption. The Viewer also allows physicians, nurses and other staff to access and view both DICOM and non-DICOM information on any device through a web browser. For such clinicians, this means they can view diagnostic images, visible light images, labs, reports, and even internet links in the same place.

The SIIM meeting takes place annually and is home to a host of imaging and enterprise IT professionals who meet to learn, share, and network.
