TeraRecon Introduces Next-Generation Image Sharing at HIMSS 2016

TeraRecon debuted its newest lineup of image sharing solutions, at the Health Information Management and Systems Society, HIMSS’16 Annual Conference and Exhibition, held at Sands Expo and Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV, March 1 – March 3, 2016.

The iNtuition Share (a.k.a. iShare) solution is now available in three powerful yet simplified configurations to ensure that physicians can enjoy an impressive no-compromise clinical experience while significantly reducing the per-study cost of image sharing. Based on world-class Health Information Exchange (HIE) technology working in combination with industry leading TeraRecon iNtuition viewing capabilities, the enhanced iShare suites achieve a new level of performance and value.

“Our design philosophy for iShare is both practical and inclusive.  The system supports multiple workflow and user management scenarios that allow our customers to minimize their initial investment while making no compromises in terms of their long term image sharing workflow”, said Dave MacCutcheon, vice president of product management at TeraRecon. Dave continued, “Customers appreciate the simplicity of our drag-drop-done uploader, as well as the ability to perform more direct peer-to-peer image sharing with automated notifications. While our embedded viewer can be programmed to appear incredibly simple, we have an equal number of customers who leverage its advanced image post processing capabilities”.

It all starts with a simple-to-use uploader to eliminate the need to courier imaging CDs. The uploader facilitates the electronic acquisition of DICOM studies and securely transfers it to the sharing platform over an SSL encrypted connection. The solution includes options to reconcile external studies against hospital orders via integration with DICOM Modality Worklist and allows primary care physicians to create and manage the referral of imaging studies to specialists.

For distribution, TeraRecon image sharing includes options to export images to PACS or distribute them across the clinical enterprise leveraging the embedded TeraRecon zero footprint universal viewer, iNtuition Enterprise Medical Viewer, to display images and clinical documentation in context.

The solution leverages IHE profiles such as XDS-I, XDW and the DICOM standard to achieve interoperability with hospital information systems and image archives in the hospital environment. The solution includes integration with hospital enterprise user management, LDAP systems. It also includes mapping of an external LDAP to the enterprise LDAP to ensure external users can easily and securely exchange imaging studies with the specialists within the institution.
