The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) has appointed Joey S. Battles, MA Ed, RT, director of educational eligibility requirements.
Battles joined ARRT on March 29.
A focus for the newly created position over the next few years will be to lead implementation of new primary and post-primary educational certification eligibility requirements, as well as support the Board of Trustees in evaluating and implementing refinements to ARRT’s educational program accreditation standards.
Every five years, the ARRT Board of Trustees reviews imaging and radiation therapy program accreditation standards for possible refinement to better substantiate program quality for students. This review process includes the programmatic, regional, Canadian and Australian accreditation agencies.
Battles will coordinate ARRT staff teams in initial certification and clinical experience requirements. The director position allows ARRT to reassign some other key activities, such as moving the management of registration records to Cindy Daniels, MS, RT, where she currently leads ongoing registration.
Since 2006, Battles has served as the associate director of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. He also has more than 12 years of teaching experience in the radiologic sciences, serving as a program director for 10 of them.
