Lemaitre replaces co-founder as CoreValve CEO
CoreValve has appointed Daniel T. Lemaitre as CEO, who succeeds Jacques Séguin, MD, PhD, co-founder of CoreValve. Séguin will remain within the company as chairman of the board.

Lemaitre previously led Medtronic’s corporate strategic planning and corporate development functions since 2006 and also served as a senior member of Medtronic's policy, management, strategy and investment committees, according to the Irvine, Calif.-based CoreValve.

Prior to Medtronic, Lemaitre spent 28 years in the investment community as a chartered financial analyst, focused on the healthcare industry, the company said.

CoreValve said its proprietary ReValving System allows both percutaneous aortic valve and transapical aortic valve replacement and is intended to provide an alternative to open-heart surgery.
