Dwight Simon, medical standards director and senior integration specialist at Merge eFilm, has been elected as the co-chair of the DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) Standards Committee.

Simon has been with Merge eFilm since 1990, serving in engineering and leadership roles.

The panel's task is to create and maintain international standards for the communication of biomedical, diagnostic and therapeutic information in medical disciplines that use digital images and associated data. The committee was created in 1983 by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) in establishing a standard method for the transmission of medical images and their associated information.
