Royal Philips Electronics has appointed Theo Bosma, MD, to expand its portfolio of professional services for information capturing in healthcare. He will hold the position of business development manager at Philips Speech Recognition Systems.

Bosma, who joins from Aurora, Colo.-based Health Language. Prior to working for Health Language, Bosma was global director of business development and consulting with Cerner in Kansas City, Mo., according to Philips. In addition to his healthcare documentation experience, he has global consulting experience to his position at Philips, having held a senior management position with Andersen Consulting (today Accenture) in both the United States and Europe.

With Bosma’s assistance, Philips will explore “opportunities to further innovate healthcare documentation, making clinically actionable information available to clinicians when and where they need it,” said Robert Thornton, commercial director of Philips Speech Recognition Systems.
