Pryor takes helm at Scott & White
Robert W. Pryor, MD, has assumed the duties of president and CEO of Scott & White Healthcare. He succeeds Alfred B. Knight, MD, who has taken the reins as president of the Scott & White Healthcare Foundation, Scott & White's philanthropic arm.

Pryor is a board-certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Critical Care Medicine. He served as chief medical officer of Scott & White since 2005 and as chief operating officer since August 2007. He served as chief medical officer at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix before joining Scott & White.

A graduate of Baylor University in Waco, Pryor received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed a pediatric internship and residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, and a pediatric intensive care medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He earned his MBA from Arizona State University and is a member of The American College of Physician Executives.

Scott & White Healthcare, based in Temple, Texas, is a non-profit healthcare system that encompasses one of the nation's largest multispecialty group practices. Scott & White Healthcare includes 12 hospital sites, more than 60 Central Texas clinic locations and 900-plus physicians and scientists, the healthcare system stated.
