Siemens grabs general counsel from GE to solve internal issues
Siemens Medical Solutions has snared GE Healthcare general counsel Peter Solmssen to assume the position of general counsel at Siemens, who will now have a seat on the management team and on the board.

Siemens has also appointed Andreas Pohlmann as its new chief compliance officer.

Siemens has been troubled with investigations into its practices. In January, the European Commission issued a £261 million ($368 million US) fine to Siemens for cartel involvement.

“This is a decisive step toward resolving the current problems at Siemens and reorienting the company,” said Gerhard Cromme, chairman of Siemens' supervisory board.

Previously, Solmssen was executive VP and general counsel at GE Healthcare. Pohlmann was the executive VP and chief administrative offer at the Dallas-based Celanese.

Both attorneys are scheduled to start on Oct. 1.
