Yancy moves to Northwestern
Clyde W. Yancy, MD, has been named the Magerstadt professor and chief of the division of cardiology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

The appointment includes serving as associate director of clinical programs for Northwestern's Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. He assumed his new post Jan. 17.

Yancy replaces Robert O. Bonow, MD, who helped establish the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. Bonow holds the Goldberg Professor of Medicine faculty appointment for the Feinberg School and has assumed the leadership roles of vice chair of the department of medicine and director of the Center for Cardiovascular Innovation.

Yancy was most recently based in Dallas as the medical director for Baylor Heart and Vascular Institute and the chief of cardiothoracic transplantation for Baylor University Medical Center. He also is the immediate-past president of the American Heart Association (AHA) and the immediate-past chair of the FDA’s cardiovascular device panel, for which he continues to serve as an ad hoc adviser.
