House Committee funds expansion of Texas radiology department
Rep. John Carter, R-Texas, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Wednesday presented a $750,000 check to the Metroplex Hospital in Killeen, Texas, for use by its cardiology and radiology departments.

Metroplex has 238 licensed beds, employs about 1,200 area residents and serves more than 125,000 patients each year, many of whom are military families.

Carter said that Metroplex is a superior hospital provider in America for military families.

"What you do for military personnel is second to none," Carter said during a news conference Wednesday at the hospital.

Ken Finch, Metroplex president and CEO, said the federal funds will be used for equipment and infrastructure. Radiology and cardiology are areas that the hospital is trying to expand, Finch said.

Carter said he works to get funds appropriated to communities that can help a lot of people.
