TeraRecon showcases EVAR, TAVI in stereoscopic 3D at VEITH
TeraRecon is demonstrating iNtuition advanced visualization tools to support physicians involved in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and endovascular aortic repair (EVAR), at the 38th Annual VEITH Symposium in New York City, Nov. 16-20. In addition, the company is showing iNtuition support for stereoscopic 3D on 3D television sets.

iNtuition is available as in-house software, iNtuition Unlimited, and as a web-based service, iNtuition Cloud, supporting upload of image data and interactive use of advanced visualization tools through a web browser.

According to the Foster City, Calif.-based company, success of TAVI depends on correct patient selection and reliable preoperative planning. In the conventional procedure the necessary measurements are made during the actual surgery under direct visualization, but with TAVI this can only be done pre-operatively with the aid of image data. 3D visualization and measurement tools may enable more accurate and efficient pre- and post-intervention planning, which can be further enhanced with stereoscopic 3D, TeraRecon said, adding that similar benefits are offered by iNtuition in the context of EVAR.

With iNtuition visualization tools may be accessed from any computer throughout the healthcare enterprise. Non-diagnostic distribution and visualization of image data is also available on supported web-enabled mobile devices such as iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
