ACR urges comment on radiology performance measures draft
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the AMA-convened Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement have developed a number of new draft radiology performance measures, and posted them for public comment. The draft measures relate to mammography, CT dose reduction, recording of fluoroscopy exposure time, and stenosis measurement in carotid imaging reports.

The American College of Radiology (ACR) stated that it is vital for its members to submit comment, as they may ultimately become reportable and eligible for bonus payments under the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Physician Quality Reporting Initiative.

The draft measures are available for review on the NCQA website at http://web.ncqa.org/Portals/0/PublicComment/Speciality_Measures/Radiology_Measures_Pub_Comment.pdf.

The deadline for receiving comments is Sept. 25, 2007. Comments can be posted at the NCQA’s public comment website at http://publiccomments.ncqa.org/.
