ACS inks Maltese healthcare IT deal
Business process and information technology outsourcing firm Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) has been awarded a seven-year, 15.8 million Euro ($21.5 million, U.S.) contract to provide health information systems to the government of Malta.

The Dallas-based ACS will provide the hardware, software, and services needed to maintain laboratory information systems (LIS), RIS, and PACS for the Maltese health system.

The new agreement is the first phase of the Maltese Government's Integrated Health Information System (IHIS), which seeks to improve the management of healthcare records.

The IHIS program will be initiated with the delivery of integrated digital healthcare systems in Malta's 850-bed Mater Dei Hospital, the country’s largest healthcare facility. As part of its contract, ACS will integrate the new systems it provides with existing systems and medical equipment currently in use by the facility.
