AFP Imaging receives 510(k) for cone-beam CT
AFP Imaging said that it has received 510(k) marketing clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its NewTom VG cone-beam CT (CBCT) scanner. The dental imaging system is used to provide 3D images of the teeth and jaw, according to the Elmsford, N.Y.-based developer.

The company said that it estimates that the market for dental CBCT systems, worldwide, will be more than $600 million over the next few years. The product is manufactured by Quantitative Radiology of Verona, Italy, a wholly owned subsidiary of AFP Imaging.
