Allscripts releases new EHR geared for small practices
Allscripts Healthcare Solutions recently announced the launch of TouchChart, an Electronic Health Record (EHR) designed for small, independent physician practices. The company made the announcement at the 2005 TEPR Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, May 14-15.

Allscripts developed this new product because of the positive industry response from mid to large organizations it has received regarding its flagship TouchWorks EHR product, the company said.

Therefore, Allscripts endeavored to create TouchChart, a product that is capable of serving much smaller and independent practices so that they too can use the technology.

TouchChart's foundation is Allscripts' document imaging and management product that was formerly known as Impact.MD.  The EHR system provides a modular approach to implementation, which allows medical groups to efficiently achieve physician adoption and also see a return on investment right away.

There are more than 300 medical groups that currently use ImpactMD across the country. These groups will be offered the chance to upgrade to TouchChart 3.3 through a direct sales force as well as a value-added reseller (VAR) network.
