ASRT adds to membership categories
The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) will introduce four new membership categories that radiologic technologists can choose from when joining or renewing their membership.

The ASRT Bylaws Committee proposed the addition of these membership categories, and the 2006 ASRT House of Delegates approved the change to the bylaws. The change will become effective on Oct. 1.

The current categories are active, associate, student and retired. The newly added categories are:
•    Radiologist assistant: Registered technologists (RTs) who hold the advanced R.R.A. credential by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
•    Graduate bridge: RTs within the first two years of their initial certification. They will have access to a discounted membership dues rate.
•    International: Members who reside outside of the United States and its territories. They are not registered by the ARRT or its equivalent, but are employed in the technical, educational, managerial or corporate aspects of the radiologic sciences.
•    Limited x-ray machine operator: Members who are not RTs.
