Association readies for climb in managed IT services
The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) is expanding its efforts to promote the growth of managed information technology (IT) services in 2007.

“Managed services are clearly poised for broad deployment in 2007,” said John Venator, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA. “The variety and types of managed services that are available today, or will be available in the near future, are limited only by the imagination of solutions providers and their customers.”

CompTIA highlighted significant industry trends. For example:
  • Market experts expected the total market for IT and communications outsourcing and services was expected to reach $23 billion by the end of 2006. This is a rise of 12 percent over 2005; and
  • A CompTIA-commissioned survey of managed service providers and their customers found that both groups believe the managed services industry will grow in revenue; in number of companies offering managed services; and in the scope of services available to customers.
