Barco this week introduced a new PACS display systems product, NIO Color 2MP. The display can be used for a variety of medical imaging applications, including 3D PACS, ultrasound, orthopedic imaging, cardiology, ophthalmology, nuclear medicine and PET, Barco said.
The NIO Color 2MP, which is now available, features a 1600x1200 resolution, 20.1-inch color LCD, with high quality under all viewing angles. The monitor is optimized to display both color and grayscale medical data sets and is fully compatible with 2D and 3D applications.
Barco's NIO Color 2MP comes with Barcomed 2MP2CFe display controller, which is especially designed to support 3D PACS. The PCI Express display controller features very fast image download speeds and optimized 3D operations through OpenGL and Microsoft DirectX 9.0. As a result, NIO Color 2MP is ready for the latest 3D CT, MR and PET applications, Barco said.
Additionally, the new display features Backlight Output Stabilization (BLOS). This technology guarantees fast power-up and continuously stabilizes the luminance output of the LCD's backlight, which significantly improves the overall consistency of the NIO Color 2MP display system. NIO color 2MP also comes with Niowatch, Barco's software tool which allows users to optimize their LCD panel in accordance with DICOM part 14 in just a few steps. As a result, the NIO Color 2MP is perceptually linearized. This means that it gives the same perception of an image, independent of the characteristics of the display system and display controller.
