Biosense Webster offers imaging integration for cardiac arrhythmias
Biosense Webster is now offering its Cartosound image integration module with its new Soundstar 3D catheter that can be used with the Carto XP navigation system for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

The new Cartosound module featuring System Software 2007, is the first to integrate intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) with 3D mapping, according to the Diamond Bar, Calif.-based company.

“The creation of pre-transeptal anatomical maps of the left cardiac chambers from the right side may diminish the need for detailed pre-procedure imaging studies, reduce procedure times and facilitate accurate and effective lesion placement,” said David J. Wilber, MD, FAHA, FACC, from Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill.

Biosense said that its Cartosound module integrates real-time ICE images from the Siemens Medical Solutions’ Acuson Sequoia and Cypress ultrasound systems using its Soundstar 3D Catheter with the Carto XP EP navigation system. The ultrasound catheter utilizes an embedded position sensor to display location and beam orientation on the Carto XP System, which enhances visualization of ICE images and ablation catheter location.
