BrainLab highlights iPlan RT
BrainLab showcased its iPlan RT treatment planning software at the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) conference this week in Los Angeles.
The automatic segmentation software replaces manual analysis of CT scans of the prostate and surrounding organs. The application features a highly detailed anatomical atlas that can visualize a patient’s internal dimensions through a process the Chicago-based company calls “elastic fusion.”
BrainLab said that the overall contouring process with iPlan RT is complete in less than five minutes, compared to the average half-hour process with manual segmentation.
According to Ralf Schira, marketing manager of the Oncology Solutions division, “This unique application enables doctors to make faster and more informed treatment assessments, thereby helping to further elevate standards in patient care.”
