Canada greenlights Medtronic's ablation technology
Health Canada has given a nod of approval to Medtronic's Ablation Frontiers' Cardiac Ablation System, a platform of radiofrequency (RF) ablation devices used to treat of atrial fibrillation (AF).

According to Minneapolis-based company, the Genius Multi-Channel Radiofrequency Generator and its Pulmonary Vein Ablation Catheter (PVAC) are now approved for use in Canada. PVAC is an ablation catheter used to isolate the pulmonary vein during AF treatment procedures.

The Cardiac Ablation System uses multiple catheters and a single 3D catheter that will allow clinicians to better map, pace, ablate and confirm isolation of the pulmonary vein, said Medtronic.
