Canadian device association joined by Philips, launches imaging sector
Philips Healthcare has joined MEDEC, the national industry association representing Canada's medical device technology companies.
The venture also marks the launch of the MEDEC Imaging Sector, which will address issues that affect patient access to imaging technologies, such as MRI and CT.
“The Imaging Sector is extremely important to the treatment, prevention and maintenance of the health of Canadians,” said Stephen Dibert, MEDEC president.
Through advocacy, education and information, MEDEC works with governments and other stakeholders to improve the health of Canadians, and has done so through the work of its other sector-based committees in the areas of cardiac care, diabetes, vision care, orthopedics and in-vitro diagnostics. The new Imaging Sector will increase the scope of MEDEC's advocacy for patient access to medical technologies.
