Cardinal divests MedSystems to Chicago healthcare firm
Cardinal Health has sold its MedSystems business more than a year after obtaining the unit through its acquisition of Viasys Healthcare.

The Dublin, Ohio-based company has closed a deal to sell MedSystems, which makes enteral devices and airway management products, to the Chicago-based Linden, a healthcare and life sciences private equity firm. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Under its new ownership, MedSystems will be called Corpak MedSystems.

“Corpak MedSystems is an innovative and growing business, but it does not fit into the core focus of our clinical and medical products businesses,” said Dave Schlotterbeck, vice chairman and CEO of Cardinal’s clinical and medical products segment.

Cardinal purchased MedSystems last June when it acquired Conshohocken, Pa.-based Viasys for $1.54 billion.
