CareTech shows tool for protected healthcare information sharing
At HIMSS 2006 last week, CareTech gave attendees a look at MediCom Central – an application that can be employed at various levels throughout a healthcare organization to give physician groups, clinical departments, administrative teams and others a means by which to communications efficiently and better organize essential information, from any location.

For physician groups, for example, MediCom can provide immediate, secure access to crucial information like medical journals, health plan provider information, compliance data, meeting schedules and agendas, department calendars, professional education opportunities and more.

MediCom Central was developed by CareTech’s WebCare team, a service offering designed to support hospitals and healthcare systems online capabilities.

“While the concept of an online group communications resource isn’t new, the recent call for digitization of documents and the on-the-go nature of the healthcare profession has created an urgent demand for a technical resource like MediCom,” said Christopher Catallo, WebCare Director, CareTech. “By providing opportunities for physicians and hospital personnel to interact with one another, while supporting their need to access information from multiple locations, MediCom is helping many hospitals and medical groups increase productivity, accuracy and security – without interrupting the group’s dedication to patient care,” said Catallo.

MediCom lets users communicate from remote locations, and can be customized through a template-based, database-driven document management system and document repository. A number of service options are, from complete self-administration by the group to seamless integration and updating through CareTech’s WebCare team.
