CCHIT certifies NextGen ambulatory EHR
The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) has approved NextGen Healthcare Information Systems EMR version 5.5.27, as a CCHIT-certified 08 Ambulatory EHR.

According to CCHIT, NextGen’s product meets the certification commission’s EHR criteria for office use.
In the third year of the program’s operation, the criteria and testing have been updated again to provide physicians with more assurance that certified products will meet their needs. The commission also added 19 criteria to the 200 required in 2007. The changes were focused on the ability to exchange patient information with other systems.

Also, in addition to the standard ambulatory EHR certification, the commission added two additional levels of certification—child health and cardiovascular. The Horsham, Pa.-based NextGen said it is currently one of only two vendors that have completed both the child health certification and the cardiovascular health certification.
