CDW to be bought for $7.3 billion
CDW, based in Vernon Hills, Ill., a supplier of computers and servers to healthcare and other industries, will be acquired by Chicago-based venture capital firm, Madison Dearborn Partners. The deal is valued at $7.3 billion.

CDW, a 23-year-old company, reported $6.8 billion in sales in 2006 and has about 5,640 employees.

Madison Dearborn Partners manages over $14 billion of equity capital and last year raised $6.5 billion in new investment funds. The company has invested in a wide variety of businesses and industries, including in healthcare staffing, teleradiology and hospital services companies, as well as a dental equipment manufacturer.

The acquisition is expected to close by early Q4 of 2007, if not sooner.
