The FDA has given 510(k) clearance to Riverain Technologies’ ClearRead +Confirm software, which is designed to improve chest x-ray clarity and aid in proper placement of tubes, lines and wires.

ClearRead +Confirm selectively increases contrast and suppresses clavicles and ribs in conventional chest x-ray images that can create obstacles and obscure visibility of feeding, drug delivery and pain management tubes, lines and cardiac wires.

A Georgetown University reader study of 334 chest x-rays found reading time was reduced approximately 19 percent using the software without compromising accuracy, according to Dayton, Ohio-based Riverain Technologies.
