CMS aims for big cut in CAD reimbursement
Certain cancer screening and treatment procedures might see substantial cuts in 2007 under new proposals by CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) which is targeting the reimbursement rate for computer-aided detection (CAD) for use with mammography. Medicare would pay 8.8 percent less in 2007 compared to the current level, according to Stanford Washington Research Group analysis of the proposal.

By 2010, the cut will be even steeper dropping to nearly 55 percent compared to the 2006 level, the research group projects.
