Connect Imaging introduces DVDCopy System
Connect Imaging Inc. this week introduced DVDCopy a stand-alone system that allows PACS (picture archiving and communications systems) users to keep archived copies of imaging studies offsite, one of the security requirements of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). The deadline to meet the HIPAA security requirements is today.

Connect Imaging says that this product is an example of their focus in providing services that aid health organizations in today's regulatory environment.

DVDcopy combines software and hardware for the sole purpose of automatically burning copies of digital images for offsite storage transferred via DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) protocol. After enough data has been sent to fill a DVD, it is burned and labeled with a job number, facility name, and date range for the studies. The DVDs are then output and taken to an offsite storage location, Connect Imaging said.
