Looking underneath a mummy’s bandages used to require destroying the ancient specimen, which is not an attractive option with such precious remains.

Of course, today’s imaging technology can peer inside a human body—mummified or not—and anthropologists at the British Museum in London have begun using a CT scanner at Royal Brompton Hospital to further their research. Learn more about this work at the link below:
