Dictaphone unveils latest PowerScribe
Dictaphone, a division of Nuance Communications, announced the availability of PowerScribe Workstation 4.8 speech recognition reporting solution for radiology at SIIM 2007 in Providence, R.I., last week. This version offers various enhanced functionality including new features based on two recent vendor partnerships, Vocada Veriphy and Amirsys STATdx. The new version will begin shipping this summer.

Vocada's Veriphy is embedded in PowerScribe to create a simplified user interface. Veriphy is a communications solution for critical test result management that allows physicians to send critical messages to ordering clinicians instantly via pager, cell phone or email. This integration has been established to eliminate delays and inaccuracies in communication.

Amirsys STATdx Clinical Decision Support, a diagnostic decision support system for radiologists, now part of the system, allows radiologists to access evidence-based, point of care reference material through simple keyboard or voice commands.

Additional technology updates now available include: support for Internet Explorer 7; support for Windows XP 64-bit operating system which allows PowerScribe to run on 64-bit PACS and RIS workstations; and updated report coding interface that is now voice enabled allows users to easily enter various codes into reports for such functions as peer review, image quality and risk management.

The company also announced the availability of the StructuRad radiology macro library for PowerScribe. StructuRad developed the library of radiology macros specifically for PowerScribe. This feature enables PowerScribe users to create reports by combining PowerScribe's voice edit features with StructuRad's macro library, a quick and convenient way to accelerate the reporting process by putting a rich set of templates at the radiologist's fingertips.
