Digital mammo cuts Finnish waiting time
The installation of computed radiography (CR)-based mammography systems have resulted in improvements in workflow efficiency as well as image quality, according to Rochester, N.Y.-based Carestream Health, the technology provider.  The company sold the Kodak DirectView CR systems with mammography feature to Suomen Terveystalo Oyj, the leading provider of mammography screening services to Finnish municipalities.

Forty clinics are currently operational with plans to install the remaining two by the end of 2007, completing the rollout to all of the group’s x-ray departments within a timeframe of two years, Carestream said. Around 10 patients per hour can now be treated to every five previously leading to improved patient care, according to the firm.
